It is a sad fact that many Clubs have too many learners chasing too few flying instructors, and many new modellers find it difficult to get access to reliable training. Also, these days when we all lead busy lives, it can be difficult finding a time and a place for training that suits our own particular needs.

If you find yourself in this awkward position there is some excellent news. Renowned fixed wing and helicopter pilot Paul Heckles has set up his own training school. Paul is an experienced instructor, a distinguished Show Pilot, and is also a Judge at the prestigious 3D Masters Helicopter event.

Paul is offering a range of bespoke training options, on fixed wing or helicopter aircraft, on the School’s own trainers. In this way you can learn to fly at no risk to your own aircraft. This also offers you the opportunity to experience helicopter or fixed wing flying before actually committing yourself to any purchases. Alternatively, if you have spent the winter building your own model and want it checking over, trimming, and test flying, Paul can do that too, before teaching you how to fly it. Once you can fly, the School can prepare you for your BMFA A and B Certificates, moving at your own pace.

In addition, for those who already fly well, Paul offers a unique “Advanced Tuition” service to the highest standards. This can be taken in all the modern flying disciplines including Aerobatics, 3D, IMAC, Funfly, and Freestyle. Since Paul is proficient in all aircraft types, this advanced tuition can be offered on a range of models including helicopters, jets, and large models.

The School aims to provide a friendly training programme, tailored to your individual needs, whilst maintaining highly competitive rates. Training can be provided at the School’s new base at Swindon, or by arrangement, Paul can train you at your location. Group training for Clubs is another attractive option.

Over £5000 worth of my hard built and difficult to fly models remain in one piece thanks to Paul. The cost of the service is little for the peace of mind and value it brings. Good luck with the school.

I had tried two schools previous to visiting Paul Heckles last week. Just as I thought I would never progress to becoming a good flyer, Paul has after just a couple of lessons installed the hope that I will fly solo soon! I would recommend that anyone needing tuition make paul the first port of call!

I had a whole day with Paul when he was with ATS. Not only did he polish my flying skills, but added an extra degree of confidence to my flying as well. Good luck Paul with the new venture.

In any training, regardless of what the subject is, the method of delivery is crucial. So weather you are trying to understand a switch function on a transmitter or a technical point of a flight manoeuvre Paul can communicate with you at you pace and level. The instruction is concise and thorough and leaves you in no doubt what you need to do to achieve the aim. Encouragement is also handed out in bagfuls and everything is very relaxed which is just how I like to learn. I spent a whole day helicopter training and a week later a whole day at one of the jet experience days, both were well worth the time and money invested and I learnt a tremendous amount. In my experience, books, forums and manuals only get you so far. Physical training gets you to the next level quicker and with no risk to your model – I have no reservations in recommending Paul as he is outstanding.
