Get em' on Bumpy Green

The Multiplex TwinJet is one of the most popular models to hit the shops, it flys great, it looks great and its quick to build, but this wasn't enough for you was it......

People are painting, spraying and covering their TwinJets, which makes them even more stunning. We want you to send us pictures of your re-designed TwinJets, and we will put them here for all to see.

Click here >MY TWINJET <to email your Twinjet pics.

Many thanks to those who have emailed us the pictures below...
Apologies to anyone who has sent pics (before our email server problems) and they have not appeared, please resend and we will make sure they don't get lost this time.

Christoph Schnyder's Twinjet Squardon...

Hubersdorf in Switzerland was the setting for this spontaneous November gathering sent by Chris Schnyder. 3 Twinjets and a MicroJet took part in the sortie.

Just to prove you can disturb your neighbours with E-Power!!

The Mysterious Mr Wilkinson and his Twinjet...

Mr Wilkinson (who did not identify himself any further) sent this sharp looking Twinjet but gave no further details.

Rudolf Wagners Twinjet emerges...

Rudolf sent us this great picture of his fabulous USAF Twinjet but somehow it never made it to the page until now, our apologies for that sir.

Derek Robertsons Belgian Air Force Twinjet - 5th October 2004...

This is my current model. Unlike my first Twin jet, I`ve made no attempt to fill the gaps between the foam bubbles, keeping the whole thing as light as possible.

The completed airframe just received a quick rub down before being masked, then sprayed with car acrylic paint. (sold in cans at any auto store). The colour scheme was fairly closely based on that used on a Belgian Air Force Mirage.

Mike Piries Indian Air Force Twinjet - 5th October 2004...

Mike Pirie built and hand painted this version using Humbrol enamel. The colours are copied from a scheme used on Indian Air Force Migs.

Brian Collins Twinjet - 16th March 2002...

This model is used to show Brians great idea for using a beer can to fix and strengthen damaged models, see Bright Ideas under the Articles menu.

Rez Manzoori sends 2 more in - 16th February 2002...

Excellent idea getting all the painted twinnies together. Here are another pair for the webpage.

The three tone grey TwinJet is my aircraft, painted in US Navy Aggressor squadron colours using Tamiya acrylic aerosol paints for the greys, and gloss hammerite for the nose and spine.

The other TwinJet in US Navy colours belongs to Phil Cooke. His model is painted using gloss enamel grey with hammerite for the spine and ailerons.

Both aircraft have had uprated Speed 480 motors, Graupner props and 8 cell battery packs fitted along with uprated speed controllers.

Hope you like them!

Simon Kidd's Twinjet - 14th January 2002...

Great web site. Thought I would send in my Twinjet photo to join the 'top guns'.

Martyn Lea from Ramsey Model Aero Club - 8th December 2001...

I have also enclosed two pictures of my Twinjets, the grey one is standard no mods, paint job is brush and emulsion paint, with a varnish finish., the sand one has 480 BB Race motors, elusion paint and varnish finish, I run the Gray on 8cell 2400Mah NiCad and the Sand on 10 cell 2400 NiCad.

Graham Drury - 5th November 2001...

Had all sorts of ideas for the paint job, but couldn't wait to fly the beast (and imitation is the sincerest form of flattery).
With stock motors and 8 2000's cells, goes like stink.

Picture found by Gary Knight - 15th October 2001...

How's this for a twinjet mod ! Gary.

John Wells - Model of the Month August 2001...

He used Hycote acrylic (car) colours and loosely based the scheme on the fullsize Hawker Hunter F58 currently being displayed by Jonathan 'Flapjack' Whaley.

Ian Ankers - Goes for the military scheme another good job...

Here it is Chinman's Twinjet, see Article on Painting your Twinjet

Painted with B&Q emulsion tester pots, mostly from the Old Stock section so even cheaper. Looked fantastic when finished and very smooth but at the cost of some extra weight. It flew very well and because of it's weight was able to fly at Old Warden when the wind kept most other models on the ground.

Powered by 2 x JP 480's with 7 x 4 (slightly cut down) pushers and everything from 8 x 2400SCRs to 10 x 1700CPs. On 10 cells it is a rocket for 3 minutes, on 8 x 3000NiMHs it flies for about 15 minutes at half throttle.

Another Excellent Paint Job - This time from David Ankers 20th September 2001...

Thanks for the nice article on twinjet painting. I been out of the hobby for 7 years but after seeing my brothers I just bought one as they seem a lot of fun. It hasn't flown yet and I need a few more hours on the simulator first I guess but the paint job turned out better than I expected.

I took a very different approach than the article though!

I finished the model in a few hours and thought it looked a little bland (understatement) so I got some normal car spray paint and sprayed away. No sanding, prep or airbrushing here. It proves that these models can look a lot better with just 30 mins and 5 quids worth of normal car spray :-)

Thanks for the great site,
David.
