| Weston Park 2002... |
Hello good evening and welcome, as a certain Mr Frost would say, to what is the magical Waynes World, Ive had a very busy month once again because Ive been on holiday, no not away to some place like the Costa Del arm and a leg, just our works one week shutdown with me adding a week to give me two weeks off and I bet you cant guess what Ive been doing with the time! Well Ive just taken each day as it comes going up the slopes flying or up to the power field. I have also bought myself a very nice aerobatic power model and a semi-scale glider.
To be honest I bought the glider back in June when I was at the Weston Park International Model Air Show to give it its full name. This was run by the Wrekin Model Flying Club, now this show is on my doorstep as it is only about 20 mins travelling time away, You would think that because it is so close it would be one show I go to every year but thats not the case. I last went to this show about 5 or 6 years ago, but what a pleasant surprise I had this year you also have to remember that this was the first year that the WMFC had run this event and they put on a first class show.
Scallywag Models Al Jnr's 330 freshly stickered Glens Models I would like to take this opportunity to thank the club for running a very smooth event, thank you gentlemen. So what of the show? well to put it in a nut shell it was all there, with the big names of the modelling trade there. People like ALs Hobbies, Ripmax, Inwood and Just Engines to name but 4, plus Tony, Daren, John and myself all on the Bumpy Green stand.
Sigma Signs Me & WOT4 with Bumpy Green Just Engines I like many others used this show to buy bits and bobs and kits, I also used the Saturday to buy some things for my dad because the Sunday was fathers day. Now going back to the kits and the glider kit in particular for a moment. This I got from Cambrian models and I have to say it was nice to see them at the show because there has been some speculation about Cambrian models going out of business, but this is not the case just a change of ownership, and looking at the trade they where doing it looks like they are going from strength to strength.
Overlander Southern Modelcraft Just Engines The glider kit yes well that is a semi-scale model of the French Breugete 905 Favuette a design from about 1950, controls are elevator and ailerons and the construction should be fast because the wing tips, fuz top, nose and tail fearing are all plastic mouldings and they are to a very good standard too.
F.M.K. Models Fibretech Balsa Cabin To help give you some of the true feeling of the show have a look at the photos round and about and you will see what Im going on about, and talking of going on it was nice to see some of you at the Bumpy Green stand and also nice that some of you had questions to ask. I hope you got them answered, I used the opportunity to let people know how they can get involved and Im going to tell you all the same, if you have anything no matter how interesting or not (as the case may be) you think it is please send it to Bumpy Green for others to read its as simple as that.
Does this pic look like the guy is ducking that plane?
