Hi all and welcome to my world or the world of model flying as I see it!
Out of the Ashes...
I have had disaster strike, as you know I have two of the three lift-offs that are kited by Simprop the small XXS being my newest. This has over time become my favourite of the two to fly, but I have bent it - let me explain. I was out flying one Saturday all was well when I had a mid-air with a fellow club members model, we both ended with bent models mine more than his.
I was some what a little miffed about this because of it being a mid-air, if I had bent it trying some manoeuvre close to the ground or the like then that would of been my fault. Once I got back home and had a good look it didn't look that bad. The wing was beyond repair but the cracked fus' was no problem, all I did to mend the fus' was cut some glass cloth to fit inside over the cracks. This was then glued in place with some 30 min epoxy that I brushed into the cloth. To this I then added an EPP packing piece inside the fus' to help hold it's shape and to firm up the fus'

As for the wing well I did think of getting a new one from simprop, but I then got to thinking of 2 fellow club members that have broken the wings on their models and have replaced them with wooden wings. Now when I say wood wings what they have done is to make a new wing out of a solid sheet of balsa, so I photo copied the plan so that I had the right section and then made 2 paper templates, these I glued to the ends of a ½” x 4” x 36” sheet of balsa. This was planed and sanded down to section then a section of trailing edge was added and the servo cutouts made.
I then made ailerons from the same trailing edge stock and cut the slot in the front of the wing for the location peg that is molded in the fus'. As to the wing tips I made some anti vortex type tips from 1/16” ply, the wing was then coated with three coats of varnish sanding between coats and silicon used for the hinges, as to the flying well it’s all back to being as good as it first was.
P.B.P ( Piggy Back Plouf )...
I have to thank Gordon Walker for this little bit, as you all know I have a liking for the Plouf, it’s one of the best small models I have flown as it is so versatile I know it has been flown as a HLG and flown off a bungee I also know of one being flown with electric power.

But Gordon has gone one better and is flying his off a piggy back from a electric powered yak as you can see in the photos. I have flown the Headbutt from this method but not the Plouf. Gordon went on to tell me that he did have one interesting flight when he lost sight of his plouf because of it’s size but as he puts it normal service was resumed once he had lost two or three hundred feet. At the time of writing I don’t have any information about the way the Plouf is attached or released from the mother ship.
Weston Park Show...
Well they got it right again the weather that is, this is in my mind one of the best shows of the year with it’s mixed bag of flying from large scale fixed wing, helis, electric and rockets, plus the car racing, boat pool and full size displays.
As for the trade well I think that there was a bigger tune out from the trade this year than last, all the big names attended Al’s, Ripmax, Traplet and people like FMK, SAS, Phoenix model products, ATS but to name but a few.

Last year we had the red arrows flying on the Saturday well this year we had a SU26 doing an awesome display of aerobatics. As you all know, (well you do now) The SU29 jet fighter can do a manoeuvre called the Cobra well this little SU26 did the same manoeuvre.

I believe this is the only prop driven aircraft in the world that can do this. The SU 26 is also stressed to +/- 26 G and this I could well believe as we were told that some of the manoeuvres that the pilot was doing went to 10 G just awesome to see.

Right staying with shows I have to thank my mate Gray from the North Cotswold Model Aero Club and the writer of the sports channel in RCMW for this information, as you can see his club are running their annual fly-in.
I can tell you this is a very relaxed event as I attended the same event last year and had a very good day out.

The site is situated in picturesque Gloucestershire and the club caters for all forms of model flying in all disciplines, RC / CL / FF they welcome beginners and are always on the lookout for new members. The North Cotswold MAC’s fly-in began in 1999 to celebrate the clubs 50th anniversary, and it proved so popular that it’s been held annually ever since, it’s nice to see that every year they attract visitors from all over the country so if any of you are interested please ring the contact Steve Burns on 01608 642283 for more information.
The End (for now) ...
I have some sad news for you now or it may be good news to some of you, but this is the last Wayne’s World for now. Not the end I hope but just a break.
This has been forced on me because of some personal problems I have at home and so I cannot put the time in I need to, it is sad because I have enjoyed writing WW and in the process I have made some new friends I hope to carry on with things like kit reviews for BumpyGreen so I may be down but not out.
I would just like to thank all at BG for their help, guidance and support in the time I have been writing Wayne’s World and as I have said I hope to be back but only time will tell, to those of you that have sent me information and made contact for copy’s of the Plouf plan I thank you and if any of you ever need a copy of the Plouf plan please contact me at wayne@wot4wayne.fsnet.co.uk and I will do the rest for you.
Be good and remember it’s not the winning that matters it’s the taking part that counts.

Would you be kind enough to send me a review of the Electrafun 41" R/C RTF electric plane

I just recently purchased an Electrafun package and have been having a fantastic time learning to fly it. After just a week i'm already practising loops and vertical stalls. A few "less-than-ideal" landings have proved it is a surprisingly tough aircraft with minor dings and scratches the only result. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to get into powered r/c flight.

Please see my Electrafun pages at www.fastasfunk.co.uk for loads of Electrafun stuff. Cheers, Roop
